John James 詹斯正
John is the CEO of BetaSmartz. Passionate about giving people the tools to make smart decisions about their money, John founded BetaSmartz in 2015. Previously, John spent his career developing financial products, platforms, and investment strategies for large financial institutions and startups, including his own successful investment management firm that he founded in 2005. He has in-depth knowledge of global markets, investing, risk management and running successful businesses.
He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (F Fin). John holds a MA from the University of Oxford with additional studies at the University of London and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - College of Business.
Masao is the Lead Developer for BetaSmartz and is a full-stack developer. He was a front-end web developer to Lima Consulting Group and a full stack web developer to Theme-Paradise. Prior to that he was lead developer at Fujisoft and a full stack developer at AvidTrips.
Masao's stack includes: React.js, AngularJS, jQuery, Meteor, Ruby on Rails, Python/Django, Node.js, Angular JS, Express JS, Mongo DB, Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL, MongoDB
Masao holds a BASc in Computer Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology.
Zak is an expert in wealth and asset management and leads the BetaSmartz team in Asia. He has had a global career spanning 20 years. Zak has extensive knowledge and experience of the Asian markets.
Having started life as a professional musician, he moved into equities trading in the City of London. He was a co-founder of a global alternative investment firm and moved into executive search and advisory, focusing exclusively on the asset and wealth management sector. In recent years Zak has been responsible for Tardis Group‘s Hong Kong operation, managing the group’s asset and wealth management search and advisory practice globally.
Zak is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA) and a Member of the Royal Geographical Society.
Michael is Chief Technology Officer of BetaSmartz. He is a senior IT professional and was most recently Director, Product Manager at Manulife Wealth and Asset Management (Asia). His extensive career has seen him work with a number of the largest insurance and financial institutions across Asia and the US including KPMG, Merrill Lynch and ING Life with roles in software development, process engineering, production support, enterprise implementation, Head of Solution Delivery and PMO transformation. Michael holds an Associate Degree in Aircraft Design Technology from Vaughn College of Aeronautic Engineering, Aviation, and Technology, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Columbia University.
Jade is the Senior Finance Manager. She is an experienced finance professional with experience in project finance, accounting tax and compliance in large financial institutions and startups. She has previously worked as a senior project finance manager at Westpac, CBA and Bankwest. She began her career as a tax accountant for Brentnalls.
Jade holds a Bachelors in business and accounting from Edith Cowan University and is a CPA Australia.
Bernard is an adviser to BetaSmartz with significant experience in wealth and asset management. He is currently a Member of the Board Investment Committee for the New South Wales Treasury Corporation. Bernard was an EVP and Global Head of Strategy as part of the executive management group at State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) in Boston and previously served as an EVP and Head of Asia Pacific with oversight for the Asset Management operations throughout the region. Bernard holds a BEc (major in Finance and Accounting) from Macquarie University and is a CFA.
David is an adviser to BetaSmartz and is a C-Suite executive and entrepreneur with global experience in technology as a digital transformation leader, thought leader and practitioner. He was Global Industry Lead - Services at Microsoft, launching and growing their global business consulting practice across FSI, retail, manufacturing, government, healthcare and education. He is a Microsoft veteran of 16 years (roles from FS and banking to enterprise sales and business turnaround). He is a board member of the Banking Industry Architecture Network (BIAN).
David is a PhD candidate in business strategy at Macquarie University, holds an MBA from UT Sydney and has completed executive education at Harvard. He is a member of the AICD.
Ian is an adviser to BetaSmartz and has extensive experience in digital transformation and financial services. He is currently a Partner of Grant Thornton Australia, head of technology advisory, and has spent over 20 years as a management consultant with a focus on leveraging emerging technology to transform client business models. He has also held industry roles in banking. Previously with IBM, Ian was a global thought leader for the application of emerging technologies including cloud, analytics, cognitive, social and distributed ledger particularly implementing new go to market innovations in the banking, financial markets and retail sectors.
Ian holds an MBA from the University of Sydney with further studies at Stanford University Graduate School of Business and the CAIA.
